Russian President awards the Ambassador of Qatar the “Order of Friendship” in recognition of his efforts in strengthening the relations between the two countries

HE President Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, awarded HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Russia the “Order of Friendship”, in recognition of his efforts in strengthening the relations between the two countries.

In a special ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow, HE Mr. Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, and in the presence of HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, conferred the “Order of Friendship” to HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani.

During the ceremony, HE the Russian Foreign Minister expressed the appreciation his country for the efforts exerted by HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani in promoting and developing the relations between the Russian Federation and the State of Qatar.

The "Order of Friendship" is one of the highest honours awarded by HE President of the Russian Federation to officials and diplomats from other countries.

This order was adopted by a presidential decree in 1992 to be the direct successor to the Soviet decoration known as “Order of Friendship of Peoples.”
